The Indiana lifestyle: truck driver edition

September 8, 2026   |   Posted by: Truline News Reporter

The hills, forests and lakes of Indiana aren’t just pretty to look at from your cab. The heart of the Midwest is packed full of all-terrain, all-season activities, too. There’s Lake Michigan to the north, the “little Smokies” to the south, and a whole lot of lakes, rivers, and hiking trails in between.

If you haul for Truline out of Lebanon, Indiana, then we’ve got even better news: Some of the best hiking and fishing in the Hoosier state is just a short trip away.

Hiking

When we say hiking, of course, we mean everything from expert-level rocky trails to easy walks suited to every skill level. Fortunately, Indiana provides both types in abundance. Head north for the beaches and sand dunes of Lake Michigan, or head south for the hills and waterfalls of the Appalachian foothills.  Here’s our picks for the best trails, for drivers who need a break from their rigs.

Boating/Fishing

Indiana stretches all the way to the Great Lakes, so you know the boating and fishing is going to be good.  The state is full of smaller lakes and rivers, too, so truck drivers don’t have to look far to spend a day on the water. Best of all, there’s ample accommodation near most of them, so you can make a weekend out of your trip. Here are just a few of our favorite spots.

Skiing

No, Indiana isn’t all flat farmland! While there technically are no mountains, there are indeed ski hills in the south of the Hoosier State to satisfy your need for downhill speed.  If you’re looking to carve some tracks and have a relaxing après-ski afterwards, Indiana has two ski resorts that fit the bill. As a bonus, they’re a reasonable distance from our Lebanon location, too.

Camping

When you’ve had enough of the freeway and dreaming of the great outdoors, Indiana has plenty of great camping spots. Say goodbye to truck stop lights, and relax in nature at one of these great campgrounds. We’ve thrown in some glamping spots, for the drivers who don’t feel like sleeping on the ground on their off-days.

Indiana has a lot to offer for truck drivers once their runs are done. So join us at our brand-new location in Lebanon, IN, and see for yourself. Check out our current openings, and join our team today.
